How do i remove gloss paint from my hall, landing and stairs carpets??? Help me?

Being the calamity that i am and being so unlucky that if i hit the floor i would miss i decided to paint my skirting boards with non drip white gloss! Unfortunatley i dropped the tin of paint and there are drops evrywhere. it is dry now and i have tried washing up liquid, carpet cleaner and even cut some of the paint out of the carpet. How do i get it off???? I dont want to use paint thinners or white spirit as it will disclouer the carpet. The carpet is dark blue and has had a scotch gaurd treatment before hand. How do i remove gloss paint from my hall, landing and stairs carpets??? Help me?
Its most likely dry now, so just trim the top skin of it with small nail scissors, and once removed brush until you can remove all thats possible, then use turps etc, and wash well after with warm soapy water, as the residual paint will just go deeper into the carpet. dont cut the pile too deep just gently trim the topHow do i remove gloss paint from my hall, landing and stairs carpets??? Help me?
Thankyou xx

Dark blue carpet is really bad about showing dust, lint, and animal hair. I would suggest you replace the carpet...by a professional. Seriously, the other products listed (Goo gone, OOOPS!, etc.) may work, but will take time, patience, and good ventilation. I've done similar stunts and it just took lots and lots of time and patience. It wasn't there before, so it can be gotten rid of. At least the Scotch Guard will help because if it worked, the paint didn't penetrate the fibres very much.
i think your snookered mate,

prob best to just buy a new carpet
It depends. Is the paint water base,or oil base?.How much paint are we talking about here? If it's water base paint there are products you can buy from a paint store or home improvement center. One good product is called GOOFOFF. If it's oil base and it's already dry? GOOD LUCK, you've really gone and done it this time.
Gloss paint is one the surest fire ways to have a successful insurance claim as its virtually impossible to remove without great expense.
Have you tried turpentine on a small patch that doesn't show? My mum spilled hot pink gloss all over her living room carpet a few years back and the only solution was lots and lots of turps, clean rags and patience! If the colour doesn't bleed from your carpet remember to work from the outside of the marks to the centre to avoid it spreading further. Otherwise I fear you are in for an expensive visit from a professional carpet cleaning company. Though if it is merely droplets on the surface perhaps steam cleaning might loosen them? Best of luck.
Hi, the only thing I could suggest is to use cellulose thinners from your local motor spares shop. It can dissolve paint no problem and should not harm the carpet. However it is very inflammable, a bit like petrol. So do not have a naked light around when using it, and keep the windows open to get rid of the fumes and smell. It smells like peardrop sweets so is not as bad as petrol in that sense. However if you spill it on paintwork it WILL remove the paint no matter what type it is, so be carefull. I hope this helps.
Is it a water based paint? Must be cause you stress gloss non drip, as you can see all paints drip. You could try 3 products that I know for dried latex paint, OOPPS, Goo Gone or Goof off, them are 3 that I know of. Good Luck. If it is oil based try a paint deglosser in a not so obvious area, called Wil-bond.
