Birch vereen tv table. I want to paint it gloss black. How do I do that, and make it look professional?

birch veneer needs light sanding. then use a primer like Kilz and spray entire piece, all surfaces. sand the primer after it dries completely. make sure room has ventilation, or better yet paint in garage or outside on newspaper. Use Rustoleum high gloss black, use long sweeping strokes making sure to cover all surfaces with color. lightly steel wool then apply finish coat lightly as not to let paint run, let dry 24 hours. You can paint it black using ceramic paint, like you would get at wal-Mart.. Krylon works great, but make sure it's a smooth even coat and don't let it drip.. Ceramic works on most things that are not flexible.. if you want to use it make sure that the surface is smooth and sanded.. the extra work will definately pay off.. ceramic paint will give it a shiny high gloss finish and then if you wanted you could polish it and it would shine like a black mirror...Birch vereen tv table. as a painting contractor i concur with boliver's response ...my only suggestion would be to use a better primer than kilz...i suggest x-i-m- as it has much better bonding properties than kilz and your topcoat will get much better adhesion.
