How do i paint and high gloss an old piece of funiture?

I saw an old buffet at a store in the mall and it was painted a dark red with a incredible high gloss finish like glass. It made the old piece look fabulous. Any ideas on how to get those results?How do i paint and high gloss an old piece of funiture?
you can try a high gloss spray paint, over a primer so it will stick, but honestly the bast finish will be obtained from a body shop with a good gloss paint and a sprayer. the asians made hi gloss lacquer by tediously sanding between each coats to build up that high gloss finish, I happen to paint furniture for a living for 5 years now www.vontagechicfurniture.com
