Can anyone tell me how to get semi-gloss paint out of berber carpet with out ruining the carpet.?

Steam cleaner. Moist heat softens it enough for the bristles of the machine to clean it out. On small spots have used a tack cloth and a steam iron - is a precarious operation and if not careful can make it worse.Can anyone tell me how to get semi-gloss paint out of berber carpet with out ruining the carpet.?
