Can household paint, emulsion or gloss, ever be incorporated into a painting?

I have some lovely colours amongst my left-over household paints which will probably never get used on the walls and doors again so wondered, as I've recently started oil painting, if these could ever be used as part of a picture. Does anyone know? Can household paint, emulsion or gloss, ever be incorporated into a painting?
Of coarse you can incorporate these residential grade paints into your art work. These paints are of lower quaility than ';artist'; or even ';student'; grade colors. If you start with your household paints you would stay with or change to a ';better'; grade paint to finish. Good luck! Can household paint, emulsion or gloss, ever be incorporated into a painting?
Some artists like to use them (e.g. James Burford). If the paints are acrylics, then they cannot go over oil. Oil paints can go on top of them, of course.
