You might have to take them to a ';stripper,'; a furniture refinishing business that can submerge them in a solvent. Using turpentine on your own will likely not be as cost effective. You can hire a sand/grit blaster from a hire shop
use one of the butane gas blowtorches and burn it and scrape the slab then a wire brush to finish with
