if you use allpurpose joint compound, you can mix in sand to get the plaster feel and look, but you need to prime tha walls first.... all purpose can go on heavy enough too that it will be think and have alot of depth like plaster.What is the process for applying plaster over sheetrock with semi-gloss paint?
Plaster is not made to go on Sheetrock, and its not made to go over paint- they do make some artificial plaster, made of Vinyl that might work-
