Use a water based gloss for them...The baby isn't born yet, but what I think your asking is will it hurt the baby from you inhaling the fumes...A solvent based material can possibly nauseate you especially being pregnant, and surely direct contact with solvents would not be good for the unborn baby..If latex it won't bother you...However after application of the oil based materials are done open a few windows and let it air out...The smell will be there for a couple weeks getting less stronger as time goes on..after an oil base dries and cures it will be fine(about 12 to 24 hours)The smell will still be there but the airborne solvents will no longer exist, only the odor...If you are talking about painting in the next few days and will it be safe for the baby when born..You have a green light..it will not harm the baby in that amount of time..Will the fumes from gloss paint be harmful to the baby?
It will not harm the baby inuterine and if done now there will no smell in a couple of days and certainly not by the time he's born.
Do ventilate the room with an open window and door whilst painting - this should always be done, not just because you are pregnant.
Most good quality paints, like Dulux, are low odour and dry within a few hours.
The paint fumes can be very harmful to your baby. It wouldn't do any good to have someone else paint for you because the fumes will still be present in your home. If you stayed with someone for a few days while someone else painted for you would be best but it should be someone you trust to be in your home when you aren't there.
If you have to ask you shouldn't even be considering it.
Solvent odors may be harmful; however, much depends on what kind of gloss you intend to use. If you use water-soluble gloss AND finish that door within the next couple of days (preferably outdoors, or at least in a WELL-ventilated room), this should be pretty safe.
An alternative, though, may be to treat the bare wood with beeswax polish, which is perfectly safe (given it contains no solvents), and gives off a nice aroma.
if u paint it now the smell shpould be gone but now there is special paints to use
Just to be safe, make sure you have some fans and windows open... If you do so i think you will be fine...
Yea they can be harmful.
Listen to Jodie.....I have been a painter for 20+ years. I would Not paint a Home with Babies even if the customer Begged me
